Why It’s Important to Backup Your Data

The Holidays have just passed, a New Year has begun, and backing up your data is more important than ever, especially if you want to keep all those precious holiday season memories. We all know the moment of panic that creeps in when we think we have lost something. You probably have data on your computer’s hard drive or your mobile device that’s too valuable to lose.

So how can we prevent our devices from losing our data unexpectedly? Data Backups!

Stressing the Importance

We all love technology, but let’s be honest, it has a lifespan. Having a great device and external hard drive will definitely put you in a good place, but inevitable, technology starts to weaken. One day it might stop working and all of your precious memories, work files, and any other data could be lost.

Laptops crash. Phones break. The “blue screen of death” appears. Hang on to those sweet memories and hard work by making it a point to back up your data.

How to Back Up Your Data

There are numerous ways you can back up your data to keep it protected. When backing up your data, it’s best to back it ALL up. Better to be safe than sorry!

Google Cloud– Uploading your files to a cloud-based server like Google will ensure your information is still available

no matter what happens to your devices. Cloud backup allows users to back up their data to hardware in a remote location. Users can access their data anytime on any device via the internet. Google offers some pretty large storage options, so if you have a lot of data to back up, there are plenty of options for keeping it all safe and in one place.

External Hard Drive- You may be familiar with hard drives. An external hard drive is connected to the computer on the outside via cables or wirelessly. Examples of external hard drives include USB flash drives and SSDs. External hard drives are portable, easy to use, capable of storing large files and can be easily transferred from computer to computer.

Online Backup Service- For data that needs to be managed and protected, online backup services are a great option. Online backups are a method of data backup and storage in which a service provider handles the stored data. In this case, you might have to spend a little cash for a provider to handle this for you.

Hard Copies– It may seem outdated, but having physical copies of important data that you can have locked away in your home or office is another great option.

The more places your data is backed up, the better.
